Biomedical Engineering Summer Research Program

The UNL Biomedical Engineering Summer Research Program enables qualifying undergraduate students to receive training in research in their field under the direction of Dr. Greg Bashford. Funding is provided through a National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) grant. Students are paired with faculty mentors and also receive mentorship from graduate student researchers in the lab. Students receive a stipend as well as housing for the duration of the ten week summer program.

MERC is providing evaluation support for this program in conjunction with the Bureau of Sociological Research (BOSR).  The evaluation includes pretest, posttest, and follow-up surveys conducted by the REU program, mid-point and exit focus groups with the students each year, and faculty and graduate student mentors exit interviews.
