Evaluation Services

The Methodology and Evaluation Research Core Facility (MERC) can provide a suite of state of the art social and behavioral methodological services.  We have experience collecting both qualitative and quantitative data to assess formative and summative outcomes.  Our program evaluators have advanced degrees in research methods, policy analysis, psychology and sociology, and we have effectively partnered with school districts, universities, health departments, and state and tribal health and child welfare agencies to collect data from diverse populations.

As a fee-for-service center, we are one stop shop for all evaluation and research needs for all four NU campuses, community organizations, and private entities.  Our expertise in the proposal development phase for grants or contracts includes:

  • Sampling
  • Survey methodology
  • Research design
  • Logic models
  • Research (including assessing broader societal impacts of scientific research and community health and child welfare programming)

After grants or contracts are awarded, we specialize in both qualitative and quantitative data collection:

  • Interviews
  • Focus groups
  • Observation rubrics
  • Document review
  • Large scale surveys
  • Longitudinal data collection

We also provide services for data collected by others:

  • Transcription
  • Data entry
  • Data analysis
  • Data visualization for reports to funders, or as presentations to broader coalitions and communities
