What brought you to MERC?
I ended up at MERC because after I completed my undergraduate career at UNL, I was immediately looking for work in a research-focused field. After a couple of opportunities working in research projects with professors over the summer, I stumbled upon an opening for a project associate role. I figured that my experience and skills aligned perfectly for the values of MERC, and it has been good times ever since.
What are you most passionate about in this field?
I am passionate about conducting research that paints an overall picture of a certain topic that contributes positively to others. I think it is important to use available data to conduct research that others use to impact others. The changes may or may not be significant, but I find satisfaction in feeling like a small part in contributing to change.
What historical figure would you choose to have dinner/drinks with?
I would most definitely want to have dinner/drinks with Steve Jobs. As one of the most influential figures of all time, I would love to pick his brain to discover his mindset going into each product he created. In a world where it seems like the iPhone makes up more than 80% of cellphones, I would be very interested in how he was able to create a company where its products are almost seen as a “bare necessity”.
